Orchid Hill 2004 Estate Pinot Noir$27.00 -- Paso RoblesPurchase Orchid Hill 2004 Estate Pinot Noir
Perhaps no other premier winegrowing region in the world shares more soil similarities than Paso Robles' Westside to Burgundy, France. In our Estate Vineyard at 1200 feet above sea level, thin topsoil littered with fractured shale and ancient maritime shellfish remnants overlays limestone rock.
Winemaker Tasting Notes: This fine Burgundian varietal thrives on the calcareous-shale soil and cool breezes of the Templeton Gap. Long hang-time to ripeness produces vibrant cherry flavors, fresh and bright depth and complexity to the mid-palate. Small, intensely pigmented berries of fine Pinot Noir grapes grow here, in poor soils on steeply sloping hillsides. At this elevation, warm summer days are tempered by cooling Pacific breezes each afternoon, with extremely cold nighttime temperatures completing our dramatic diurnal cycle. Food Pairing: Orchid Hill Pinot Noir is wonderful with grilled portabello mushrooms, sautéed veal cutlets or warm goat cheese with mild herbs. Technical Notes:
