Stubbs Vineyard 2004 Estate Chardonnay$27.75 -- Marin CountyPurchase Stubbs Vineyard 2004 Estate Chardonnay
Just a few miles inland from Tomales bay, Stubbs' vines are planted in a valley surrounded by steeply rising hills. This topography and location provides a unique microclimate for the fruit which results in a long, cool growing season, and in a long hang time for the fruit. The fruit is quite intense, and is pleasingly high in acidity. The soil profile is moderately fertile and is mostly decomposed marine sedimentary material and Haire loam. "We believe we have chosen the perfect clones for our terroir."
Winemaker Tasting Notes: Our 2004 Marin County Estate Grown Chardonnay is a focused wine, with crisp citrus overtones and hints of tropical fruits – mango and papaya. It shows bright acidity and supple tannins. Winemaker Dan Goldfield’s use of well balanced oak allows the fruit flavors to fully express themselves, leading to a pleasurably rounded finish. Made from organically grown grapes. |
