MacRostie 2005 Vin Rose

An Interview with the Winemaker:
Steve MacRostie, leading the flock of Los Carneros producers

Vineyard Notes:
The grapes for this, MacRostie's first-ever pink wine, came primarily from two fine vineyards on the Napa side of Carneros: Merlot from Beckstoffer and Pinot Noir from Beresini. This blend was enhanced with Pinot from our Wildcat Mountain Estate as well.

The growing season was quite protracted, long and cool, which is exactly the preferred conditions. Yields were slightly below average for both varieties. The grapes were harvested by hand on September 28 and 30, 2005.

Winemaker Tasting Notes:
The aromas are strawberry, watermelon, and ruby-red grapefruit, plus a touch of orange zest. In the mouth it is juicy, full-flavored, and absolutely dry, with a crisp, clean finish. When well-chilled, this wine will go with just about anything you can eat outdoors, and should be enjoyed before the warm summer months are gone.
