In any acclaimed wine region, there is often one grape variety that optimally expresses its full character. When soil, climate and varietal all perfectly converge in their affinity for each other, the end result can be spectacular.
Syrah is arguably at the top of its game on the west side of
Paso Robles. The unique limestone and shale soils found there, combined with the hot, sunny days, brisk afternoon breezes and cool evenings in the high hills of Orchid Hill’s Templeton Gap vineyards provide exacting conditions for Syrah to slowly ripen to perfection.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Syrah is perfectly suited to the sunny warm days and cool nights of the West side of Paso Robles. Our Syrah is big wine, exceptionally dark with deep rich tannins and flavors of dark cherry and blueberry. Bold and intense, it will age gracefully in the bottle for several years to come and will turn heads with its exceptional balance of complexity and finesse.
