Vineyard Notes:
The original Perry Creek estate vineyard
Syrah block was planted in 1992 on Freedom rootstock. The 5-acre block is naturally divided into 3 distinct sections that mature at different rates. These three sub-blocks also show different characteristics and are fermented and aged separately for evaluation before the final blend.
These blocks are still young but show promise and there is great excitement to have additional clones in the vineyard. The more normal rainfall received in 2002 benefits the vineyards tremendously and Perry Creek Vineyards' Syrah were happy with the extra water this year.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Toasted hazelnuts, fragrant violets and hints of cappuccino.
Loads of blueberry jelly fruit and blackberry liqueur with bacon and earth tones.
Delicious succulence and good intensity will carry this Syrah through the next two years.
