Vineyard Notes:
The Cerise vineyard is located in the Boonville area of the
Anderson Valley. The 32-acre vineyard is planted in 115, Pomard and Martini clones about 300 feet above the valley floor on gentle south facing slopes.
Winemakeing Notes:
The grapes for this Pinot Noir were harvested early in the morning on September 23rd and crushed within an hour of picking. For 48 hours the must was cold soaked to bring out color and intensify the flavor and aroma. Fermentation continued for 11 more days with the grapes being punched down by hand three times a day. On October 6th the grapes were pressed and placed in French Oak barrels to age. The wine was bottled March 2005 and has continued to age in bottles.
Tasting Notes:
The warmth of the south-facing slopes has produced a wine with a garnet color, and a fruity aroma. This pinot has a balanced, complex, red fruit flavor with soft tannins.
