History of ZMOR:
Daniel Moore’s ZMOORE winery was known as the preeminent New World benchmark in high-end, barrel-fermented, dry Gewürztraminer. Daniel worked with Martinelli’s exceptional Gewürztraminer vines to create wine for both the Martinelli family’s label as well as his own. Then, in 1995 Daniel decided to focus exclusively on Pinot Noir and Chardonnay for the time and he put ZMOORE on hold.
Most recently, Daniel has been making waves - great, big, pink ones, to be precise - with his dry rosé, SoloRosa, co-owned with Jeff Morgan. Now, the two winemakers will extend their partnership to include ZMOR. The new spelling of "MOR" represents Morgan’s participation.
ZMOR’s first release from the 2005 vintage was September 1, 2006. It is made from the same Martinelli vines that prompted Daniel’s original passion for this exotic varietal. The wine is fermented in barrel and bone dry, capturing the essence of
Russian River Valley terroir for this varietal.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes:
The wine is intensely perfumed, bright yet balanced, and redolent of spice, grapefruit, orange peel, litchee, and almonds. With more grapes lined up for harvest 2006, ZMOR has set the stage for its own renaissance.
