T-Vine Cellars

2003 Petite Sirah, Frediani Vineyard
(Napa Valley)

Owner and winemaker Greg Brown celebrates his 15th vintage with the 2003 releases. After majoring in finance at Chico State, Greg worked as a bank Vice President for five years. During this time he was an avid collector of wine and befriended many winemakers. One of them invited him to work crush. He gave notice, left the world of finance, and hasn’t turned back since. Today he produces small amounts of Grenache, Syrah, Zinfandel, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon in addition to this juicy, mouthwatering Petite Sirah from the Frediani Vineyard.

The hillside vineyard, located just outside of Calistoga on the northern end of the Silverado Trail, is composed of three blocks – Hillside, Creekside, and Corner. Vine ages range from 60 to 150 years old. The blocks are all head trained and dry farmed, giving fruit that transforms into a wine that is intense, varietally expressive, and extremely dark and inky.

Greg produced only 720 cases of this big-boned, balanced, and lavish wine. Swirl around in a big glass or carafe for aeration. With a bit of coaxing, this dark beauty unleashes a maelstrom of berry, violet, rosemary, clove, bacon, and menthol notes.
