People's Wine Revolution

2010 Bea's Knees Grenache
(Clements Hills ~ Lodi)

Clements Hills-Lodi is beginning to fill in it's regional character as one of the 7 sub appellations within Lodi. It is a distinctive area, being where the Mokelumne River finally emerges from the first lifts of the Sierra Nevada. Tremendous exploration of Spanish varietals is now showing up with wines labeled to this new region.

People's Wine Revolution found a great source of Grenache (Garnacha) at the sustainably farmed Hunters Oak Vineyard for it's 2010 vintage. Beautiful in lighter cherry red color, the aromatics are complex floral and bright.

As Grenache should be, bright acidity highlights, immediately, all the flavors of early ripe strawberries and other red berry fruits. Just enough tannin in the finish to make for a lasting impression. A wine for Spring to erase all the days of winter and feel refreshed.

It seems in keeping with it's surroundings and amazing at $10 retail. Should pair wonderfully with any lighter fare meal of summer (prosciutto and chicken ravioli with fresh asperagus and mushroom perfect) or just kick'in back watching the sunset.
