Vineyard Notes:
Perry Creek's estate Zinfandel vineyards are in full production and contributed 58% to this year’s ZinMan®. The average age of the vineyards is 18 years. 2004 was the second earliest harvest in the history of Perry Creek Vineyards. This year brought moderate temperatures throughout the growing season and excellent conditions in the vineyards.
The Perry Creek 2004 Zinfandel is a blend of 15 different lots of wine. Each lot chosen for this blend lends some unique character that makes Perry Creek’s ZinMan.
The Estate component gives this blend a very bright red fruit character. The fruit from
Amador gives a darker spicy flavor, where as the other vineyards in
El Dorado offer deep fruit and very balanced Zinfandel characteristics. The fruit from
Lodi adds a lush mouth feel and soft fruit.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Aromas of briary boysenberry fruit, baking spices and black pepper. Rich flavors of espresso roast, cherry cola, spice box, and black cherries. Lush mouth feel, creamy oak with full bodied tannins and a big finish.
