A Note About Rosé:
What wine goes well with warm weather and just about every food imaginable? Dry rosé, of course. They figured this out in Southern France eons ago, and Americans - not ones to be left in the dust - have more recently come to the same conclusion. That's why Californian winemakers Jeff Morgan and Daniel Moore decided to make SoloRosa - “only rosé.”
This last vintage, in an effort to further our quest for pink perfection, we made FOUR different rosés! Yes, our regular SoloRosa California Rosé remains the center of our winemaking. But for the first time ever, we purchased a small amount of Syrah grapes from a single vineyard in the
Russian River Valley in the hope of making a reserve rosé. Our hopes were realized as we watched the dark pink juice ferment and develop into a wonderfully complex wine that we think merits serious attention.
Winemaker Tasting:
More complex than our California blend, this wine is marked by a full, lush structure that frames an intriguing mix of cherry, raspberry, and strawberry notes highlighted by a hint of herb and citrus flavors. In the best Syrah tradition, subtle earth tones add an extra dimension.
Food Pairing Notes:
SoloRosa rosé also has the kind of class that allows to fit easily into a far more refined setting, pairing well with seafood, spice, fine sauces, poultry, game, and other red meats as well. Dare we say that it goes well with just about anything? In a word, yes!
