Wine Recommendation:
Wolffer 2004 La Ferme Martin Chardonnay
Vineyard Notes:
Wölffer Estate wines embody the region as well as a classical style of winemaking, with a rich concentration of fruit and lively acidity born of the unique terroir of these Sagaponack vineyards, similar in some respects to those in Bordeaux -- though unique in their own right. In fact, it is the condition of the local soil, called Bridgehampton loam, a by-product of the glacial moraine that formed
Long Island that provides a perfect host for grapevines.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Light golden in color. The nose is very aromatic showing ripe pears and some lime and Kiwi notes. The mouth-feel is light yet lush and driven by wonderful bright acidity and beautiful mineral notes. The finish is long and focused with a slight touch of creaminess and fine lees flavors. This is the perfect light summer Wine not overburdened by oak or alcohol.
Food Pairing:
The fresh rich and elegant fruit flavors and mouth-feel make this wine very food friendly and versatile to match with all kinds of foods from Shellfish to red meat to Chinese and spicy Asian dishes. It is also screaming for “oyster, oysters and more oysters”.
Technical Notes:
100% Chardonnay
