Winemaker Notes:
This wine is a testament to the cool climate and terroir of the
Santa Lucia Highlands, a prime growing region for Pinot Noir. Its spicy character, typical of this appellation, is coupled with an amazing depth of tart red cherry fruit. This wine was aged 16 months in tight-grained Hungarian oak, a barrel choice that complements rather than dominates the delicate Pinot Noir fruit and produces a smooth, silky mouthfeel. The palate is well structured, with rich, gorgeous colour and smooth tannins to ensure ageability.
Tasting Notes:
Nose: Complex, with red and black fruits, licorice and a hint of oak.
Palate: Spicy, with an amazing depth of tart red cherry fruit, enhanced by some earthiness. Finishes clean and fresh. Balanced.
