Wine Recommendation

Tolosa Winery Pinot Gris

Tolosa Winery

2005 Pinot Gris, Edna Ranch Vineyard
(Edna Valley)

A relatively new variety to Edna Valley, there have been too few examples to really determine Pinot Gris’ characteristics from this appellation. However, winemaker Larry Brooks says he believes this wine speaks to this cool climate region: “It was made from first rate clones grown at low crop levels in a good spot. The wine is made with a pretty light touch so the fruit character abides the terroir allowing it to show through.”

This wonderful white wine is the perfect warm weather refresher or aperitif. Expressively fruity, yet retaining elegance at the same time, it fills your mouth with flavors of just ripened melon and tangy green apple highlighted with floral and citrus notes of lemon and lime. It shouldn’t be served too cold, which would obscure the delicate floral and spice qualities.

Tolosa recommends pairing this wine with Thai curries. Of course, it would complement most Asian foods or most anything based on fowl or fish. Only $16 retail – a great buy for this delightful quaffer.
