Anglim Winery
2006 Rosé(San Luis Obispo County)
This small winery in Paso Robles turns out some extremely fine wines, and this rosé is one of their best efforts, by far. A blend of Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre and Viognier, it’s got more going on than most in this class, and yet it remains so beautifully lithe and perfectly balanced. Like a professional gymnast on a balance beam, this one never puts a foot wrong. And it looks great while doing it: the salmon-pink color is simply gorgeous.
It fills your nose with strawberries and guava, then delivers with flavors of raspberries, apricots, peaches and cherries. It is the most delightful fruit salad in liquid form that you are likely to encounter: the price is very right. There is simply not a clumsy bone in its body. You will enjoy this beautifully sublime wine with a tasty heap of cracked crab or perhaps a crisp chicken salad made with apricot chutney and mango vinegar-infused mayonnaise.
