Vineyard Notes:
The Chula Vina Vineyard is among those special, well-tended plantings that will help propel the artisan winemaking renaissance currently underway in the
Monterey region. Planted on a protected bench in the foothills of the Gavilan Mountains overlooking the Salinas Valley, Chula Vina produced richly flavored Pinot Noir at naturally low yields. The cool climate and protected nature of the site, combined with the conscientious farming makes its fruit among the best in the region.
Winemaker’s Notes:
Everything about this wine speaks to Cima Collina's minimalist, handcrafted approach to winemaking. After an initial hand sorting, we fermented the grapes in small, open-top bins that were punched down two to three times daily to extract color, flavor and complexity. The wine was pressed off into French oak barrels where it rested and aged for 12 months before bottling.
Tasting Notes:
We are very excited by the richly textured, well balanced and deeply flavored nature of this Pinot Noir. It delivers dark red fruit flavors and aromas, is surrounded by exotic spice notes, shows hints of cedar and vanilla from its time in barrel.
