Vineyard Notes:
Situated in a natural weather shadow of the Coast Range, which shunts storms from the Pacific Ocean north to Portland and south below Salem, the Eola Hills vineyards are protected from weather extremes. Yet in summer, a gorge carved by ancient glaciers draws in maritime air to provide ideal cooling for sensitive varietals in those warmer months.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Ruby in color with flavors of red raspberry and spicy oak that meld on the palate. Each vintage blend changes from year to year. I blend the best grapes together form the vineyards I feel produced the highest quality of grapes for the years harvest. The 2002 blend is 16% Madrona, 7% Columbia Country, 47% Wolf Hill, 16% Winderemere and 14% Wooldridge Creek Vineyards. This wine represents the best Pinot Noir of the 2002 vintage.
Food Pairing:
A Northwest favorite: grilled or better yet, smoked Salmon; even a spiced roast chicken; Lentil soup… the list goes on!
