Vineyard Notes:
Situated in a natural weather shadow of the Coast Range, which shunts storms from the Pacific Ocean north to Portland and south below Salem, the Eola Hills vineyards are protected from weather extremes. Yet in summer, a gorge carved by ancient glaciers draws in maritime air to provide ideal cooling for sensitive varietals in those warmer months.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Pressed from late-harvest frozen Sauvignon Blanc grapes and barrel fermented in a new French Oak, our Vin d’Or exudes aromas of vanilla, honey and pineapple. Its natural sweetness is supported by a strict acid backbone that displays the entire flavor the grape has to offer.
Food Pairing:
A perennial medal winner, the Vin d’Or shows best with clean flavors with perhaps just a touch of ginger. Some suggestions included wood Crème Brulee, Strawberry Shortcake and Shortbread Cookies. Enjoy!
