Vineyard Notes:
Situated in a natural weather shadow of the Coast Range, which shunts storms from the Pacific Ocean north to Portland and south below Salem, the Eola Hills vineyards are protected from weather extremes. Yet in summer, a gorge carved by ancient glaciers draws in maritime air to provide ideal cooling for sensitive varietals in those warmer months.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Granny Smith apples is the aroma that comes to mind when discerning the character of this vintage of Pinot Gris, crisp and yet refreshing, the flavor goes on and on. It is like frit juice with the added adult benefit of alcohol! This Pinot Gris was made exclusively from grapes grown in the Willamette Valley.
Food Pairing:
Grilled jumbo tiger prawns that have marinated overnight in lemon and pineapple juices and sprinkled with white pepper and fresh dill weed. Chicken simmered slowly in a white sauce and a side of mixed summer veggies. Proscuitto wrapped sea scallops.
