Vineyard Notes:
The Escafeld 2002 Merlot is grown on own-rooted vines in Jolon, in Monterey County's
San Antonio Valley. Our vines see summer daytime temperatures 10-20 degrees warmer than the surrounding areas, with a cooling nighttime influence, and a little morning fog, coming over the Santa Lucia range from the Pacific Ocean. This gives us a daily heat cycle of 50 degrees, producing the exceptional fruit that we hand harvest for our award winning wines.
Winemaker’s Tasting Notes:
A traditionally crafted Merlot with a deep red-garnet color. Aromas of black cherry and raspberry. Flavors of black cherries and strawberries with undertones of chocolate and vanilla; hint of eucalyptus in the finish.
