Release Note:
This Escafeld 2004 Petit Verdot is a FUTURE release. You may secure your order now for the wine's release in December 2006.
Vineyard Notes:
Grown in the sandy clay loam foothills of Monterey County's ninth and newest appellation, the
San Antonio Valley, our vines see summer daytime temperatures 10-20 degrees warmer than much of Monterey County, with a cooling nighttime influence, and a little morning fog coming over the Santa Lucia range from the Pacific Ocean, just 15-20 miles away. This gives us a daily heat cycle of 50 degrees, producing the exceptional fruit that is hand harvested for our limited edition award winning wines.
Tasting Notes:
A great example of this late ripening grape variety, our 2004 pure varietal Petit Verdot is dark ruby red in the glass, with a lovely open fragrance of red berries and coffee. The palate is soft and full with a complexity of mixed berries, spice and hints of coffee.
