La Rochelle 2005 Pinot Noir Classic Clones

Vineyard Notes:
La Rochelle is a small, artisanal winery focused exclusively on the making of hand-crafted, world-class Pinot Noir from only the finest vineyard sites in California and Oregon.

With fruit grown on the Mission Ranch in the Arroyo Seco appellation and Garys’ Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands, Classic Clones is a representation of both the best of California’s heritage clones of Pinot Noir and the Mirassou family’s history making world-class wine from them.

Winemaker Tasting Notes:
A blend of the Pommard, Wadensville, and Mariafeld clones from Mission Ranch, and the Pisoni clone from Garys’ Vineyard, this wine shows off aromas and flavors of black cherry, raspberry, cola nut, and orange oil opulently wrapped around a core of balancing acidity. As with most Pinot Noirs from this region, Classic Clones can be somewhat reticent with its fruit when young. With aeration and age, the wine opens up and shows multiple levels of flavor, structure, and complexity.
