Léal’s
San Benito County location, just inland from Monterey and Santa Cruz, is a classic
site for growing luscious, cool-climate Chardonnay. Here a marriage of warm daytime
temperatures and mitigating ocean influences equates to long “hang time” and gentle
ripening.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Winemaker “Griff”: “Our style of Chardonnay appeals to a lot of self proclaimed ‘non-
Chardonnay’ drinkers. I tell people that I contribute the wine’s appeal to the unique bright acidity while maintaining creaminess. The French oak barrels add the rich mouth feel and mineral component. Hints of tropical and passion fruits, butter cream, and spice keep you coming back for more.”
