Winemaking Notes:
This is a blend of 70% Vignoles and 30% Chardonnay. The Vignoles was barrel fermented and the Chardonnay was fermented in stainless steel tanks. The wines were put through malolactic, and then blended, with 70% of the blended wine returned to barrel and 30% returned to stainless steel tanks. Prior to bottling the wine was re-blended and tank aged for an additional 2 months.
Tasting Notes:
Vignoles is loaded with melon and nectarine flavors as well as fairly high acidity. The tank fermented Chardonnay supports the fruit qualities of the Vignoles and adds some apple and pear of its own, while tempering the acidity of the Vignoles. The oak notes are light with some vanilla and spice. Finished off-dry, the finish is soft and carry the flavors of the Vignoles and oak.
