Comtesse Thérèse is dedicated to making artisanal, limited release Long Island wines. A ten acre vineyard, Le Clos Thérèse, was started in 2000 and the first harvest is expected in 2004. Comtesse Thérèse's first vintage, 2001, was made using grapes from highly praised vineyards on the North Fork of Long Island. The 2001 Traditional Merlot received a 90 rating in 'Wine and Spirits' magazine in April 2004 and was highly praised, along with the 2001 Chateau Reserve Merlot, in 'Food & Wine' in May 2004 and 'The New York Times' in September 2003.
Theresa K. Dilworth, Esq., Comtesse Thérèse's Owner, Winemaker, and Vineyard Manager, is also an international tax attorney for Pfizer in Manhattan. Lisa Julian Cannac, Assistant Winemaker & Director of Sales, has many years of experience with Long Island winemaking, wine analysis and wine sales.
