Capay Valley Vineyards
2010 Viognier(Capay Valley)
Viognier is happy growing in Capay Valley. The 2010 Capay Valley Vineyards Viognier is a wonderful example of how well this grape can do in the far western reaches of Yolo County, where the eastern flanks of the Blue Ridge range of the Vaca Mountains drop to Cache Creek.
Light and lean in color, the nose offers stone fruit aromas with a citrus background, setting the stage for the rewarding taste to come.
Bright acidity is immediate and accentuates the tropical fruit notes deivered. The acidity also brings a enjoyable juicy presence that lingers in a extended finish.
Without a doubt this makes for fine summer evening wine, or chilled at lunch on the patio with light fare. But when the late fall comes it provides an excellent pairing with Thanksgiving dinner, handling all the stuffing it can take.
