Wine Recommendation

Stuessy Cellars

2010 Principium Cuvee
(Suisun Valley)

Suisun Valley has long been known to winemakers, less so as designated on label for consumers to find. Things have been changing and Jake Stuessy launched his first labeled red wine with a 100% Suisun Valley blend, Principium.

A rather uncommon blend of Syrah and Merlot, with a little Petite Sirah included to bring real depth. 18 months barrel aging and a full year of addtional bottle aging has brought this new release a real sense of sophistication. Soft, supple and with spicey notes, no one grape stands out. Rather all three have evolved to one singular profile of bright acidity, cinnamon, sugar plum, red berry fruits, medium grained tannins and depth of color. This wine is fresh and juicy while showing great ability to age for years to come.

Principium is ready to grace the table with dishes from red sauced pasta, maybe some pesto, or a wide range of meats from beef to pork.
