Vineyard Notes:
Fruit for the Estate
Sauvignon Blanc is sourced
100% from the Clos LaChance Estate Vineyard in
San Martin. The 150-acre Estate Vineyard was
planted in 1999-2000. Nearly 20 varietals were
planted, along with 60 separate clones—providing
Winemaker Stephen Tebb with a spice-rack of
blending wines. Hot sunny days throughout the
growing season, coupled with cool ocean breezes
in the evenings, allow for increased grape
hang-time, and the further development of flavors
and complexities.
Winemaker Tasting Notes:
Strong aromas of lemon-zest and lime-aid are
followed with notes of grapefruits and figs. I
also get subtle notes of dry straw and grass.
Flavors of ripe grapefruit, kiwi and Meyer
lemon dominate the front of the palate. A crisp
and zingy mid-palate finishes with hits of
mineral and spice.
Food Pairing:
Linguine with Clams,Veal Piccata, Grilled
Shrimp with Miso Sauce, Baked Fish with a
Mustard Sauce, Gruyere or Sonoma Jack
Cheese
