Winemaking Notes:
This surprising wine is the perfect fusion of Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, and Petit Verdot. The result is a spicy, sensuous, and complex vintage that will most certainly delight the most avid red wine aficionado.
Vineyard Notes:
To achieve the ultimate blend, the fruit was sourced exclusively from well-manicured vineyards within the
Lodi Wine Region, an area which benefits from a distinctly Mediterranean climate. Warm days and cool evenings provide the perfect environment for the development of premium wine grapes. The area is located just east of San Francisco and borders the Sacramento River Delta, where it attracts coastal breezes that distribute a cooling influence. Here, the grapes can grow at a more leisurely pace, allowing full, ripe flavors to evolve. Lodi’s unique climate helps to balance the fruit acidity while maintaining its structure.
Tasting Notes:
This vintage is the color of black cherries in the glass, hinting at the complexity of flavors to come. The initial nose is earthy and spicy, with subtle aromas of cinnamon and licorice. After a swirl, the second nose is full of irresistible, dark, ripe fruit that demands a first taste. On the palate, the wine is sophisticated and elegant, delivering the rich flavors of juicy plums and black currants with just a hint of white pepper. A wonderful acidic balance is combined with soft, round tannins that melt in the mouth. There is a slight note of minerality in the wine, which provides an excellent complement to a wide range of foods. The finish is exceedingly long and luscious.
