Ballard Canyon AVA resides completely within the Santa Ynez AVA and Central Coast AVA of California and is within the Santa Barbara County appellation. Ballard Canyon comprises 7,800 acres in total and lies between Los Olivos and Buellton.

More than half the vineayard acres planted to 16 different vineyards, at approval, are comprised of Syrah. The region growers and winemakers are firm in belief this is the star varietal producing consistently expressive wines of concentration.

The region is comprised of rolling hills as it resides in the eastern stretches of the Santa Ynez valley. Daytime temperatures are higher than the western regions of Santa Ynez valley and AVA.

Current Feature

Manton Valley spans Tehema and Shasta Counties in the eastern foothills of Northern California. This region is very different than the Sierra Foothills AVA much to the south. Volcanic influence abound with Mt Lassen just to the east.  [>] continue
