Winemaking Notes:
The grapes were meticulously hand-picked, selecting only clusters at optimum ripeness. After gentle destemming and light crushing, the must was cold-soaked for 24 hours, prior to inoculation with a Bordeaux yeast strain. 100% free-run only wine was removed at selected intervals after 22-30 days on the skins.
Aging Notes:
The wine was aged for 28 months in a selection of 50% new French oak, 25% new Russian oak, and 25% 2 year-old American oak. 8% Cabernet Sauvignon was included in the final blend assemblage to promote complexity and tannin structure. After returning to barrel for one month to integrate, the final blend was bottled 100% unfiltered.
Tasting Notes:
This rich, sumptuous Syrah is loaded with beautiful classic Syrah flavors. It has lovely dark purple color, with an intensely fragrant nose of blackberries, anise and sweet spice. On the palate the wine is bursting with intensely concentrated blackberry, raspberry, strawberry, plum, licorice, vanilla, and white pepper notes.
Beautifully balanced, with a velvety mouthfeel, this Syrah is drinking beautifully upon its release, and will continue to evolve with cellaring over the next 5-10 years.
