A rural area of central interior California located in western Stanislaus County, about 75 miles east-southeast of San Francisco and 18 miles southwest of Modesto. Effective August 30, 2004.

Since Thomas Jefferson first tried to cultivate European vinifera in Virginia, the state has been a decided piece of American wine country.
