Vellum2012 Vellum Black
For winemaker Karl Lehmann shifting Petit Verdot sourcing to Suisun Valley for the 2012 Vellum Black was easy. His focus was bordeaux oriented and harvesting at lower sugar levels produced such results. Dark fruit dominates with flavours across a spectrum of berry fruit.
Comprised of primarily Petit Verdot (85%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (15% and from Napa Valley) the wine reflects finesse and reserved styling bringing forward some bramble yet is framed by adroit and chalky tannins.
Proper cellar storage should reward with 25+ years aging potential.
