Petite Riviere Vineyards & Winery
2002 Cotes de LaHave, Harmon's Hill(Nova Scotia)
A blend of Leon Millot, Lucie Kuhlmann, and Marechal Joffre. This is a blend of the French-American hybrid grapes that had previously been used to make Jost’s success Petite Riviere Rouge bottling. Relatively pale in color, this recently bottled wine is already showing some complexity in the nose and an interesting marriage of varietal flavours. My initial reaction was slightly underripe, like a young country Chianti, with some briny notes, combined with distinct berry fruit character and a slight gamey quality. The palate has nice weight, with green/sour fruit character, a hint of chalk, and a fine tannic structure.
