Wine Recommendation

Joie Wines

2005 A Noble Blend
(Okanagan Valley)

This wine is a very complex blend, with fruit purchased from both Okanagan and Similkameen vineyards. The blend: Gewürztraminer (21%), Riesling (20%), Pinot Blanc (23%), Kerner (18%), Muscat (8%), Auxerrois (5%), and Ehrenfelser (2%).

One can almost pick up the intense fruit flavours in this wine with one's hands! It is a tropical fruit medley, tasting of peaches, ripe pineapples, raisins, spice, both on the palate and in the aromas. Its eight grams of residual sugar give the wine a fat, juicy texture and a long fruity finish. 980 cases produced. Score: 88 points

The Reviewer

John Schreiner

John Schreiner has been covering the wines of British Columbia for the past 30 years and has written 10 books on the wines of Canada and BC. He has judged at major competitions and is currently a panel member for the Lieutenant Governor’s Awards of Excellence in Wine. Both as a judge and as a wine critic, he approaches each wine not to find fault, but to find excellence. That he now finds the latter more often than the former testifies to the dramatic improvement shown by BC winemaking in the past decade.
