FRANCISCO ARAGON GUILLER

A native of Argentina and New Jersey resident for over 16 years, Francisco Aragon Guiller provides an interesting, fresh voice in wine’s Blogosphere. Armed with his belief that fine wine represents a source of human and cultural capital, Francisco founded “Enotheque” in 2005 to champion the cause of underrepresented wine regions which are often overshadowed by flashy bottles of mass-produced mediocrity. Updated weekly, Enotheque targets intelligent and value-conscious wine consumers with frequent recommendations, tasting notes, informative articles on market trends as well as features that profile American and international wine makers that are worthy of the consumer’s attention and dinner table. It is in this Rousseaunian vein that Francisco approaches wine through his pieces in Enotheque -- a driving counterforce to mass-marketing that wants to restore fine wine to the nobility of human enjoyment.

Though Francisco supports the cause of excellence in Argentina’s small, artisan producers that truly reflect the flavors of its various regions, his love for lesser known, outstanding American appellations should not be underestimated. With respect to the latter, Enotheque has a project underway to discover and bring the spotlight to deserving wineries of the eastern United States. So far, Francisco has interviewed and tasted throughout southeastern Pennsylvania’s Brandywine River Valley, with upcoming features that will focus on two small, world class wineries which every American should watch out for.

In addition to writing about wine and traveling, Francisco holds a graduate degree in Spanish philology and the post of Lecturer at Stockton College of New Jersey. Due out in late 2006, Francisco will publish an edition of Miguel de Unamuno’s Niebla (1914), specifically geared for upper-level Spanish literature students. Also, he is currently preparing a monograph on José Bianco, the Christopher Marlowe of the fantastic genre in Argentina.
