PAT LANDEE
Living in Southern California in the early 1970s it was hard not to be exposed to wine. Patty, who had always been interested in cooking, began to experiment with different food and wine parings. She and a number of fellow employees at TRW discovered that they all had a desire to learn more about wine, leading to the formation of the TRW Enology Club. The club grew to have a membership of several hundred, and is still operational today. She followed this by being a founding member of the South Bay Chapter of the International Wine & Food Society. It was during this period that she had her first Burgundy, a Cote du Nuits, a spectacular pinot, that set the hook.
In the late 1970s, Patty was a member of a three week Les Ami du Vin tour of France which included a one week in-depth class from the Burgundy Wine Institute in Beaune. This was followed by classes at the Napa Valley Wine Library and classes from Robert Balzer. Later Patty founded the Saturday Night Tasters in Washington, DC.
